Week 8 Term 3

Today at Enrich we did all sorts of things.  First thing this morning we did chess and I was playing Harley and guess what... I won!! Now I'm only 18 spots from the top of the leader board!   Then we did enviroment projects and now I'm doing mosaics of New Zealand icons like the rugby ball and the fern and we did  Keynote about it.  Then we had morning tea and then back onto enviroment and we watched a wee clip about polluting water and then we did some thing called a told us and made us wonder.  Then we had a break for lunch and now I'm on here, next we are doing passion time and then I'm going to spanish. Physics...

Today at Enrich we did wonderful things.  We had 3 new high interest stations to pick from:  Physics, Fibonnacci numbers and 3D drawing.  I chose physics.  We made parachutes for physics today.  We had to construct the parachute so that it was the same as each others, but the only difference was the material we used.  We were wanting to find out which material would make the best parachute for an egg to travel in.  I worked with Caleb and we used flannelette material.  The rest of the parachute was made with:
- Our choice of material
- Polystirine cup
- 4 strings which measured 50cm each
- Bamboo skewers (to make holes in the cups)
We named our egg "Double-head Donut".  Our parachute floated to the ground, but the force of the egg hitting the groud meant we had a few cracks in our egg.  We decided that the best material for a parachute was not too stiff, but also not too light.  Next week, we get to design our own parachutes - custom made - and we will launch them from the same place.  I think next time I will have skewers at the top of the cup so that the egg won't come out, as well as some tissues so it is a softer landing for the egg.  Here are our photos:

Enrich Term 3 Week 3

Today at Enrich we did wonderful things including Chess, Enviroment, and Tessellations.  Tessellations you heard from one of my Blogs it's no gaps and no overlaps.  It's quite challenging but when your finished it off you'll be proud.  My tessellation is birds it's black and brown with blue and green eyes. I like doing tessellations even though they are quite hard.  From Bede @ Enrich. : )

Tesselations ?

I can tell, you have no idea what a Tesselation is.  Well a Tesselation is a mathmatical problem with no gaps or overlaps.  It's harder than meets the eye sometimes you just have to do some patterns then you  you find something ,then off you go.  I've done a tesselation before and it was roosters, but it was challenging.  Adios from Bede@Enrich.  : )

Today is the last day of Enrich for this term.  We started with a Wilson game - the Hoop Game.  Youhad to work in a group of 3.  You had to hold hands and jump at the exact same time as each other.  You had to jump across the walkway and try and get your whole group in the hoop at the same time without touching the hoop.  If you didn't jump together, or if you jumped before Alana clapped, you had to go back to the beginning!  If you think it sounds simple, it's not!  Next - It was Reflection time! It comes and it goes every term and this term, we used a Sentence Starter sheet.  Most of them were easy to answer, but some of them took a bit more thinking.  Seeyou next term.  From Bede @ ILT. : )

For Enrich today I did canstruction with Alana. We made a folder called Angry birds and made a Keynote about our learning for canstruction which I then exported to a Quicktime which is here on my blog. If your wondering how long it is it's 3 minutes and 20 seconds.  Well see you all next week.  From Bede @ ILT.  : )

Canstruction

Well this time the picture shows most of the plan for canstruction for talent develoment and we did our blue prints but blue prints are blue but why don't we call it a scale model of the front.  Here is the front of the Yellow Angry bird its just a draft but I did my best.  And we did a table for how many cans we had and we did the maths for the price and colours for the cans.  See you all next week.
